21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display

Retina display came on a little iMac. Now was where to send all who are not satisfied with the resolution of conventional iMac: “I want to get paid, you have.” In online store there was only one initial configuration 21.5-inch iMac with Retina display, 4K, 1 $ 499. Only 200 dollars more than the iMac with the regular non-Retina display.

And, with the exception of a much more advanced display and slightly more powerful 4-core Intel Broadwell, filling the 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display almost no different from stuffing a senior representative of the economy class. iMac with 4K Retina display, like all of its 21.5-inch iMac 2015 cost integrated graphics from Intel.

They had a common drawback: slow hard drive in the base configuration. Ill-informed buyers with almost absolute certainty when you purchase the iMac did not pay attention to this, and as in this case, the connector for the SSD in the computer was missing, to fix this error was almost impossible.

Hard drive you can replace the Fusion Drive on its basis, paying only 100 dollars. According to observers, Apple was simply required to include the Fusion Drive in the basic configuration all 21.5-inch iMac – but then instead of 1, 099, 1 1 299 and $ 499 on the price tag would be 1 199, and 1 399 1 599, from the point of view of the Apple was totally unacceptable.

In war as in war.

Resolution – 4096х2304 pixels, 217 pixels per inch. Color palette – DCI-P3 is one of the world’s first applications in the device to the General public. And the first iMac using this palette.

To manage a huge number of pixels in the 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display was used the same timing controller Parade DP 665 (developed with the participation of Apple’s non-standard) used in 27-inch iMac Retina 5K.

This is the main feature of this model – and despite the integrated graphics from Intel, if you use only your own computer display, everything worked smoothly and without delay, as it should be. Solid five plus.

Officially, the external monitor support resolution up to same 4096х2304, but it was beginning to show incomplete service conformity Intel Iris Pro 6200.

For all the good in this world comes at a cost: this iMac cannot be used as a large and beautiful display for a MacBook Pro or Mac mini. As the iMac Retina 5K.

The identifier of the model – iMac16,2. This is the same older model of economy class.

The basic configuration was alone with a 4-core Intel Mobile Core i5 3.1 GHz (i5-5675R). With the third cache level 4 MB, and the maximum frequency in the turbo mode of 3.6 GHz.

After ordering replacement or upgrade of the processor was impossible – he did tend to itavalta into the motherboard.

The system-on-chip processors have both included graphics Intel Iris Pro 6200 level GT3e with eDRAM, with a capacity of 128 Megabytes, which is reserved for their needs 1.7 GB of total RAM.

The basic configuration includes 8 GB of PC3-14900 (1 867 MHz) LPDDR3, but during checkout, paying $ 200, its size can be increased to 16 Gigabytes. RAM also vpisalis into the motherboard.

The drive capacity of 1 Terabyte (5 400 rpm). Very slow – but, nevertheless, if you do not try to do something complicated, copes with his duties. That’s only if the ordered configuration consisted only of the disk, on adding the SSD could forget. Inside didn’t have the SSD connector.

In the Configurator offers the following options for storage:

Sooner or later, but even the most reliable equipment sometimes you have to fix.

Here is the video of this company (lasting 3 minutes and 32 seconds):

Maintainability – 1 of 10. To open the device is relatively easy, but to return it to “original” condition afterwards almost impossible. You need experience, qualification and luck.
