Yesterday, we told you that Apple announced that it has acquired officially on the platform of magazines, digital Texture. But according to a new report released recently from the website of Bloomberg, it appears that Apple wasn’t the first company considering making an offer to get the Texture, and Amazon apparently made an offer to acquire this service also.
It is not clear why it didn’t work Amazon in the end in the acquisition of firm Texture, and perhaps that may be due to the offer made by Apple is more tempting than the offer made by the Amazon company. Not surprisingly that does not provide Amazon or Apple or Texture any comments on the report, but interest in Amazon should not be very surprising.
About four years ago, and was struck by the Amazon company on the platform the distribution of comic books, ComiXology, so interest in Amazon magazines is not surprising. Subsequently, the company introduced Amazon service ComiXology Unlimited, which allowed users access to the comics for a monthly fee, and that’s what it’s like again what you are offering the service of Texture, so it’s likely that Amazon was looking for another service to supplement ComiXology.
Anyway, we never know what really happened. Moreover, it is also unclear what plans Apple to do with Service Texture. Some say that it will be part of the Apple News, but given that Apple tend to close the service after receiving it, we wouldn’t be surprised in case if undergone Texture the same treatment also.
