At the conference for developers WWDC 2019, which was submitted to software products, Apple also showed a possible future macOS – showing Project Catalyst, a tool to transfer iOS applications on Mac. In the framework of this initiative, developers can port their applications on desktop platform in a few simple steps. The tool was so easy to work that the company used him to transfer a couple of programs from a mobile platform.
Apple is preparing a massive update for the app “Messages” and works on “Quick commands Siri” for Mac. This information was shared by well-known developer Steve Troton-Smith, after studying the second beta build of macOS Catalina. As proof of his words, an enthusiast showed screenshots of future programs.
The new Messages app for Mac is almost completely borrowed design and functionality from a mobile platform. Supports sending messages by effects, audio messages, and file transfer. All the data, like on iOS, will sync with iCloud. It is expected that in the future there will be iMessage the App Store. Apparently, Apple decided to allow apps from two platforms to a “common denominator”.
In addition, Apple also develops the app “Quick commands Siri”. It is unknown what options will find the program in the version under macOS. With confidence we can say only one thing — a new tool is considerably inferior Automator in terms of available actions.
It is noteworthy that Apple did not relate to the topic of new apps at WWDC 2019. It is likely that these programs will not be available in the final version of macOS Catalina in September of this year. Most likely, the development has not yet completed and the company will add applications to the system only with the output of other major updates.
