Banking application for Android contain significantly more critical vulnerabilities than their analogues for iOS. To such conclusion experts of Positive Technologies came analyzing the RBS system for both platforms. According to the results of the study showed that the advantage is very significant.
According to experts, the share of high-risk vulnerabilities in banking applications for Android is 56%, whereas in iOS this indicator does not exceed 25%. Such vulnerabilities allow attackers to pick up the credentials to access Bank account and the savings of their victims.
Interestingly, experts say that sometimes applications from the same Bank for different platforms may contain different number of vulnerabilities. As a rule, in versions for iOS vulnerability can be found less than in the versions for Android, despite the fact that their creation involved one group of developers.
Fortunately, at present there is a General trend to reduce the share of critical vulnerabilities in banking applications, says researchers at Positive Technologies. With 2015, the number of vulnerable programs for online banking has decreased from 90 to 71% in 2016 and to 56% in 2017.
