As soon as another Apple product goes on sale, wizards of iFixit immediately begin to study the internal components of the device. This time the experts fully disassembled the iPhone XS iPhone XS Max, revealing all the secrets of new products.
As expected, the recently introduced flagships are not much different from its predecessor, the iPhone X. However, it is not surprising, given that the design of the devices are almost identical. However, some differences in the internal layout of smartphones still exist.
First and foremost, this is a new battery design. If last year’s iPhone X got a dual battery with a capacity of 2716 mAh, the iPhone XS is already equipped with one battery of L-shaped 2659 capacity mAh. At the same time, most iPhone model XS Max still comes with a dual battery with a volume of 3179 mAh.
Despite the fact that smartphones have got a new standard for dust and moisture protection, the iFixit team were unable to find improved seals or other evidence that the iPhone XS iPhone XS Max provides the best protection from water and dust.
Among other differences, the experts noted the increased size of the motherboard (in the iPhone XS Max), Taptic Engine and slightly changed the location of the rear camera. In addition, the case now has an additional line next to the Lightning connector — in order to provide a better signal at work with the next generation networks.
On a scale of maintainability, the flagship received a score of 6 points out of a possible 10, which is pretty good. The Assembly is used mostly screws, not glue. Procedures such as replacing the screen and battery, is not particularly difficult. However, there are also disadvantages — for example to restore the water resistant after repair is almost impossible. Also of particular difficulty is the replacement of the glass panels of the smartphones.
