From VII to IV Millennium BC in Cyprus there was a settlement called Choirokoitia, which is still considered the most ancient on the island. It turned out that this is not the case, archaeologists from the Greek Aristotelian University found that at the same time, this territory was founded another village. The remains of a built stone buildings, utensils and tools given to understand, in what way lived the inhabitants of the village and that they could.

Most likely, the second residents of the ancient settlements of Cyprus lived about the same as the inhabitants of Choirokoitia. At the moment it is known that Cyprus was a protected stone walls of the village, where there were from 300 to 600 people. Their house was circular, and was built of stone, situated as close as possible to each other.

Among the main occupations of the inhabitants of Khirokitia were hunting, agriculture and animal husbandry. Because of this, they could not afford meat goats, sheep and pigs, and a variety of cereals, figs and plums. In the VI century BC, the inhabitants of Khirokitia, for unknown reasons, left his dwelling place, but after 1.5 millennia was back in place by other people, but they lasted there for long.

Archaeologists have unearthed one of the oldest villages of Cyprus

New archaeological work on Cyprus has proven that in times of Khirokitia there was another settlement. It was located near the present village of Agios Ioannis, and was also decorated with stone structures. One of the buildings was quite large and fortified by two rows of stones, whereas the other smaller building was built around it. The residents clearly did not have time to learn pottery, so the dishes and other objects were made of stone.
