Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla Roadster will receive wheels with a central nut

The head of Tesla, Elon Musk, spoke about one of the features of the new Roadster electric car: the car will receive rims with a central nut (centerlock). This type of fastening is most often used in sports road cars and racing cars, for example in Formula 1. Instead of the 4-5 nuts that usually attach the wheel to the hub, one large hex nut is used. In racing cars, this type of attachment speeds up wheel changes and also provides more room for using the larger brake pads and calipers.

Thanks to the use of the centerlock fastening, the mechanics of the Formula 1 teams have time to replace all four wheels of the car in 2-2.5 seconds

Tesla Roadster will accompany sports road cars such as:

  • Porsche Carrera GT
  • Porsche 918 Spyder
  • Porsche 997 (optional)
  • Porsche 991
  • Koenigsegg One: 1
  • Koenigsegg regera
  • Lamborghini Aventador SV
  • Lamborghini Huracán (optional)

Let me remind you that the Roadster will also be able to boast of its driving characteristics: acceleration from 0 to 96 km / h in 1.9 seconds, top speed of about 400 km / h, cruising range of 1000 km. That's just the start of production of an electric car will have to wait. It was previously planned that it will be ready in 2020, but the timing has shifted slightly forward.
