In Crimea, found the remains of the largest bird in the history

Animalsthat exist today are inherently a smaller and less dangerous replicas of prehistoric creatures. Giant and bloodthirsty ancestors had worms, fish and even birds, and recently one of the largest and strongest birds in the history of Russian palaeontologists in one of the Crimean caves. Discovered the bird named Pachystruthio dmanisensis — for its size it surpassed the extinct moas height of 3.6 meters, and the so-called elephant birds, the growth of which was at least 3 meters.

Paleontologists have determined the growth of the birds, based on the size of the femur — weighing in at 450 pounds, it has reached 3.5 meters. Based on these characteristics we can say that the found animal is one of the largest birds that have ever lived on planet Earth. According to paleontologist Nikita Zelenova, bird species Pachystruthio dmanisensis was twice the moas, and almost as large as polar bears.

Researchers have shared that finding a thigh bone age from 1.5 to 2 million years, they were convinced that it belongs to the elephant bird. However, after studying its structure, they realized that opened up a whole new look. Feet discovered the birds were long and thin, which suggests that they were more skilled runners than the elephant bird. Probably the speed was the main key to survival, where they lived, also lived saber-toothed tigers, giant cheetahs and other predators.

The bones of a giant bird

The discovery proved that in ancient times, the giant birds were ubiquitous. Pachystruthio dmanisensis unidentified bones were also found in the state of Georgia that suggests that they were in the Crimean land through the South Caucasus and Turkey. Other giant birds were found in New Zealand (MoA), Madagascar (Elephant bird) and Australia (Dromornis).

The footprints of a gigantic birds can be found even today, and during the usual walk with the dogs. About this finding recently told a resident of New Zealand, who noticed a huge footprint MoA bird at the bottom of the river Coburn. The imprint was raised to the surface, cleared in pictures and transferred to the Museum.
