During the meeting the key developers of the Ethereum came to an agreement on the future date of implementing hard forks Constantinople in mandate cryptocurrencies. So, prepare a calendar prior date of starting the upgrade scheduled for January 16, 2019. However, programmers do not rule out the possibility of moving the event in the event of unforeseen difficulties.
Constantinople is on the way
We will remind, earlier the final date for hard forks was appointed just before the conference, Devcon4, which was held in late October. However, the developers have not managed to execute the plan due to problems with the integration of an upgrade to testname Ropsten. The reason for this was disagreement between the miners, the wrong time of carrying out the procedure (Ropsten used just on weekends) and no single channel of communication for all developers.
And although Constantinople itself unable to further delay action bombs, the difficulty will remain in force. Developer lane Rettig noted that the creation time of a block of Ethereum will begin to increase in mid-January. The 30-second threshold, the unit will reach up to mid-may. Although this process could be completed in April.
Another member of the Ethereum Foundation Holger Drews proposed an alternative plan for hard forks. According to him, programmers to initiate new testnet 10 Dec (i.e. Ropsten will automatically expire), and on January 16 a full test of Constantinople. Drews also proposed to postpone the implementation of hard forks in the main chain Ethereum until February 12.
After protracted debate Drews refused his proposal and agreed to hardwork in mid-January. Finally, Africa’s Shoden noted that the block number to activate Constantinople will be known on Black Friday (November 23). More details can be found in our cryptodata.
