Surely you noticed how a lot of news lately about the first new smartphone line Reno from the famous Chinese manufacturer OPPO. And finally, the company unveiled its long-awaited flagship. Reno and Reno 10x Zoom 5G anything but a flagship will not be called, and it is in my opinion, it is good that with a new line, which is also positioned as a youth, OPPO decided to enter the market not the budget device that we used to see competitors, and with a real flagship.
In General, the smartphone presented in the amount of two pieces – OPPO, and OPPO Reno Reno 10x Zoom – but the differences between them not so much. Both devices will make their debut soon in Europe, and are essentially the same apparatus that was presented a few weeks ago in China.
Not much going into technical details, OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is equipped with a 6.6-inch OLED display without any recesses and holes, thanks to the unique retractable mechanism with a selfie camera at 16 MP on the front side and flash from the back, which resembles a shark fin. The main feature of the smartphone (and the reason for its unusual name) is the periscopic camera on the back with 10x zoom hybrid that combines the wide and ultrawide lenses. This periscope module also has OIS.
Please note that the telephoto lens has only 6-fold optical zoom compared to the main camera and its 10x zoom hybrid (hence the name). If it’s interesting, the super wide-angle sensor in 0.6-fold zoom.
This model runs on the latest Snapdragon chipset 855 and already out of the box will be controlled by Color OS 6.0 (based on Android 9 Pie). This smartphone will be available only with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of persistent storage.
In OPPO Reno diagonal OLED display is slightly smaller – at 6.4 inches, but it is still the same almost-invisible bezel and selfie camera similar with OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is located in the “shark fin”. The main difference between this version of Reno that he has lost the periscope and wide angle sensor camera, but has instead the main camera on the 48 MP (no OIS) and a 5-megapixel sensor, which helps to do the side and shots at night.
Reno – a smartphone middle class, running on the Snapdragon chipset 710, and its basic configuration – 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, although there is an option to purchase a version 8/256 GB.
This means that only the model with the 10x zoom has the computing power to record video in 4K at a speed of 60 frames per second (normal Reno are only capable of 4K/30fps). In addition, as a more premium model 10x Zoom is equipped with dual-frequency GPS and the function of Audio Focus, which uses multiple microphones to synchronize video and sound when you are zooming.
Both smartphones are equipped with fingerprint readers, stereo speakers and fast charging VOOC 3.0, but only Reno 10x Zoom boasts Dolby Audio, and a slightly larger battery. But the Reno is a classic 3.5 mm headphone Jack, which is not the premium model.
Oppo Reno made on the basis of the 5G 10x Zoom. The company OPPO has established partner relations with Swisscom (Switzerland), EE (UK), SingTel (Singapore), Telstra and Optus (Australia) for the launch of this model worldwide. Reno 5G may become the first smartphone with 5G, available in Europe. Swisscom launched its 5G network in Zurich just two weeks ago. EE will test its 5G network at the Glastonbury festival, which will take place at the end of June.
The cost of Reno is said to start at € 500. It will be available from 10 may in France, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Poland. Oppo Reno 5G at a price of 900 euros will also go on sale in may. Then, in early June, appears 4G version of the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom for 800 euros. Thus, if you want to get a smartphone with a periscope camera and 10x zoom, you will have to take 5G Reno.
OPPO also announced that Reno and Reno 10x Zoom 5G get international warranty. This means that your smartphone can be repaired at an authorized service center OPPO in any country where officially sold the device OPPO.
