Oppo has announced a new generation of periscope camera that will be used in future smartphones of the brand.
The module is equipped with a 7-element lens and is capable of adjusting the focal length from 85mm to 135mm (35mm equivalent). The aperture can change from f / 3.3 to f / 4.4 at maximum magnification. New 16-bit high-precision IC driver precisely moves the two lens groups for zoom, autofocus and optical image stabilization.
Oppo engineers also worked on the sensor and image processing algorithms. The "large" sensor has a resolution of 32 MP and a Quad Bayer filter. With image overlay, the camera can zoom up to 280mm.
Assuming the main camera uses a 26mm lens, this module offers optical zoom from 3.3x to 5.2x, and the hybrid zoom increases to almost 11x.
One of the first to receive the new module may be the alleged successor to the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom model, which appeared in the TENAA database last month. In parallel with this, there was talk of an updated periscope camera. It is reported that the smartphone will receive a 6.5 ″ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, support for 5G and a 3945 mAh battery.
