Tesla continues to prove the world that electric cars can be more fun and faster than their competitors with the internal combustion engine. But although the company Elon musk is focused on creating electric car for the masses with a minimalist Model 3, other looking in a different direction. Pininfarina-Automobili promises to make an electric car fast, luxurious, rare and expensive. A new car manufacturer under the code name PF0 will go into production in 2020 and will cost 2-2,5 million dollars. For the money you get electric hypercar, able to score from 0 to 100 in 2 seconds to accelerate to 400 kilometers per hour for a distance up to 500 kilometers on a single charge.
However, to see the new car European manufacturer you won’t be able. Next month Pininfarina will show a concept at Pebble Beach Concours d’elegance, but to get to the show, only a select few (the rich). Everyone else will have to wait for the Geneva motor show in March 2019.
“One of the main differences is the large Central tunnel, because most batteries will be between the driver and the passenger,” says chief designer Luca, Bourgogne. Most other manufacturers of electric cars are inclined to approach Tesla, when all the batteries are placed under the bottom, but Borgogno says this profile is too high for a hypercar.
If the Pininfarina name sounds familiar, you’re probably a connoisseur of Italian cars. “We call ourselves a start-up with 88-year history,” says CEO Michael Pershke. Because Pininfarina exists as the Italian design house since the 1930s and helped to create a landmark car for Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Ferrari – all 64 models than earned the honorary title of the automaker at least part of the design.
It would be strange to put that together with how the entire world is accessible and affordable electric cars, billionaires and other wealthy people don’t want to change to electric cars for millions of dollars.
