The part of the source code of the bootloader iBoot was released last night on GitHub. However, Apple has demanded of the resource to remove the code, because its placement there violates copyright.
Code of loader iBoot – one of the key components of iOS, which is responsible for validating the operating system kernel of authenticity and all certificates. Apple confirmed the authenticity of the code, assuring users that no risks in terms of safety, this leakage is not liable, because the code refers to the version iOS 9. However, the Cupertino-based company took advantage of the situation of copyright law in the digital age (DMCA), and contributed to the disappearance of the code from GitHub (but not the online code has already been seen on other sites).
A well-known expert at iOS and macOS Jonathan Levin called the drain “the biggest leak in Apple history”. Boot code can be useful for hackers to find vulnerabilities and create new variants of hacking.
