Last year, we have to review was the ASUS AIO ZN242IF, which we loved. He had everything we need such a device – elegant design, good screen and powerful hardware. This year ASUS has introduced a new monobloc Z272SD and let’s see what the company can surprise this time.

Let’s start with the main drawback of the design. Not to say that it’s bad, but if you compare with last year’s model, she definitely loses it. It is quite common borders on the sides, the design is not so sophisticated, not cool leaving the web camera. But everything has an explanation. For example, in last year’s model it was possible to adjust only the angle of the monitor, and Z272SD you can change not only the tilt but also the height of the screen, and also rotate it to the side at 45 degrees. Yes, that leg became longer, but the efficiency of the design is added.
No traveling camera, but Z272SD installed a webcam along with a set of infrared sensors that are used by the Windows system Hello to unlock your computer. And this device a few weeks, I realized how cool this thing is! You come to work, include monobloc and while we sit back in the chair, the system will see you, recognize even in the dark and greet with an unlocked screen. As for me, a justifiable decision.
All the hardware is now in pretty big stand – minus, but a plus of performance, it is possible to more effectively accommodate the cooling system. And as a bonus – and even wireless charging. Quite a handy feature – I sat down at the work place, put on the stand the phone and it recharges itself slowly, do not look for the charging cable.
Another plus from this stand can comfortably accommodate a variety of connection interfaces. For example, the front has a slot for SD cards, on the right – USB-A 2.0, USB-C and 3.5-mm audio Jack, but the rear Ethernet port, three USB-A 3.1 Gen 2, two HDMI ports (one for input, another for output), the button for switching HDMI and power connector. Such a set will surely be enough for any occasions, well, an extra plus note that you can connect to the monobloc, a second screen and use it as an external display.
ASUS Zen Z272SD AiO can be equipped with Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4 GB of memory, up to 32 GB of RAM and a bunch of SSDS up to 1 TB HDD up to 2 TB. In our case, the following configuration: Core i7-8700T, GTX 1050, 32 GB RAM, SSD 512 GB and HDD to 2 TB.
Of course, in the benchmarks the results were quite high. During actual use, also the lack of performance was not. It’s a great car not only for office use, it also allows you to work comfortably in photoshop and edit videos. Moreover, in Z272SD set gorgeous 27” screen with 4K resolution. It is calibrated at the factory and is certified by Pantone. Such displays are used in high-end laptops like the ZenBook Pro. The picture is very bright and vivid, sRGB coverage is 100%, viewing angles of 178 degrees. To work for such a screen one pleasure. Well, or to play games, Z272SD this is also can easily. By the way, some models are available with touch display, so if you want you can come up with a case and for such use of a monoblock.
Another important element of any candy bar is its sound system. In Z272SD installed sound from harman/kardon. There are two 5 watt tweeters and two 3 watts low frequency. They are located on the rear panel, this creates the impression that sound is coming from all sides. I sound like – it is balanced and quite clean, at maximum volume there is no podkapyvanii, and the maximum speed is enough for listening in a room of medium size. Therefore, the sound can be recorded in advantage to the monoblock.
Of the other characteristics I note the presence of 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, built-in microphones, as well as complete mouse and keyboard, which, unfortunately, we have not reached.
In the end, ASUS Zen Z272SD AiO is a great option if you don’t like the pile of wires under the table and you need a powerful smartphone with a great screen. If you go to a price comparison website, see what competitors you can mark iMac, HP Pavillion, Acer Aspire, Lenovo IdeaCentre. The characteristics of they are weaker or about the same level with Z272SD, and as for the cost, here’s a monoblock from ASUS can be bought for the amount of up to 79000 62000 UAH (about $2200-2800). But you can also look to last year’s ZN242IF, which offers more interesting design and not much weaker performance. View prices here.
