Teenager breaking into servers of Apple, received a suspended sentence

In August 2018, it became known that a hacker hacked into the servers of Apple and extorted from them 90 GB of confidential information. Recognizing the attack, the company asked the FBI in the investigation revealed that the hacker was a 16-year-old boy from Australia. During the search it turned out that the guy stored the stolen information in the folder with the straightforward title “hacked hacking hacking”. It turned out that he attacked the company’s servers, as is her fan and always wanted to work in it.

Court of Australia decided not to sign the teenager to prison, and gave him 8-month suspended sentence. The convict pleaded guilty to two charges: unauthorized access and unintentional modification. According to Bloomberg, the adult persons for such charges give 2 to 10 years of imprisonment.

The venue of the court and the name of the accused is kept secret because the laws of Australia are not allowed to disclose the identity of juvenile offenders. Bloomberg reports that the court called the actions of the teenager serious and sophisticated attack on a large multinational company.

The investigation revealed that the attack was made in two periods: between June 2015 and November 2016, and April 2017. To calculate the teenager failed due to the serial numbers of the two MacBook, which was carried out the hacking. One of them was a folder with 12 methods of bypass of systems of protection of Apple. In August, Apple has assuredthat user data was not touched.

Australian police have recovered hard disks about 12 terabytes of information. Continued investigation can lead to the fact that the case will be found the other defendants.
