Not so long ago we learned that the new iPad Pro will get a new USB type-C, instead of the now familiar Lightning port. The journalist of the edition 9to5Mac, Ben Lovejoy decided to reveal all advantages of these solutions and to talk about his faults.
The article was published in the blog 9to5Mac.
I believe that this innovation is long overdue, and this step is absolutely in the style of Apple. Of course, it will cause some questions from users, but see for yourself:
After I purchased MacBook Pro, which is equipped with a USB-C port, I immediately changed all my cables to one. I look forward to the day when USB-C will be used everywhere — in computers, smartphones, peripherals — to all of you to connect or charge with one cable. No doubt, it would be an elegant solution.
However I’m not entirely impressed with the approach of some issues:
- Of course, the rejection of the Lightning port will not be easy, given the huge number of available accessories — from docking stations to expensive speakers. Claims of users will be quite justified, despite the fact that this kind of investment in the future. But how to smooth the moment of the transition?
- In my opinion, it would be logical to make the transition to USB-C first in the line iPhone, and then iPad Pro. See for yourself — we already know that the updated tablet will lose the headphone Jack. If Apple put USB-C, that means to connect the headphones to three different Apple products will require three adapter — for MacBook, iPhone and iPad. Of course, we had heard about the company’s commitment to a wireless future. But I think that you need to consider the opinions of people that still use wired headsets.
- Another problem that comes from first — Apple Pencil. It turns out that pencil Apple will not charge on the new iPad Pro? It looks at least strange.
In General, I’m for switching to USB-C, but it is obvious that the market is not yet ready for it.
I agree with the above arguments? Do you think the transition to USB-C justified? Let me know in the comments or in our Telegram chat.
