Who would have thought that with a simple speech Elon musk will start active stage of developing a completely new type of transport. Talking about Hyperloop. To make it clearer how important this is, remember when there was last a new type of transport?
December 17, 1903, when the Wright brothers made the first flight in history on the plane. After this, a single completely new type of transportation mankind has not invented (missiles don’t count). Yes, there is a Maglev train, but a new type of transport can not call them. But Hyperloop is possible.
The problem of the “vacuum trains” that implement it from a technical point of view is very difficult. At least need the tunnels are constantly supported by a backing pump. You also need to work out the technology of the motion of capsules on a magnetic or air (so far suggest that there may be used one another option) pillow.
So no one expects complete lines Hyperloop in the next few years. But yesterday, quite unexpectedly, the company Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) has announced that they have signed with Aldar Properties the agreement, under which next year will begin construction of the first commercial line Hyperloop!
The line should be completed in 2020. It will be located in the UAE between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in close proximity to the Expo 2020. Apparently, it was the start of this exhibition UAE and want to run the Hyperloop line, to hit the whole world.
The line will be very short — only 10 km But it is not a test period, and a full commercial line “vacuum trains”. Moreover, later it will become the basis for further development of the network of Hyperloop in the UAE.
I have only one question. The fact that a few days HTT has announced that it began building its first test line. Test! That is, the company is now not even tested their technology. How she intends to build a commercial line in two years, remains a mystery to me.
For comparison, the Hyperloop Virgin One, which also works in this direction have already managed to conduct a series of tests, but has not yet signed any contracts and promised to build a commercial line. In General, I keep my fingers crossed for HTT, but while there is doubt.
