Huawei today introduced the new MateBook X ultrabook. Despite the fact that it looks little different from the old model, a number of interesting solutions have been implemented here.
But we'll just start with the parameters.
- Screen – 13 inches with a resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels
- Platform – CPU Core i5-10210U or i7-10510U
- RAM – 8 or 16 GB
- Storage – 512 GB SSD
- Battery – 42Wh with support for 65W fast charging
- Dimensions – 284.4 x 206.7 x 13.6 mm with a weight of 1 kg
- Port Set – USB-C pair and headphone / microphone jack
- Misc – Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and four colors: silver, blue, pink and green
Now for the interesting part. First, the laptop is passively cooled. Yes, with full-fledged 15W quad-core 14nm processors in a 13mm package. How much it will heat up, and how much the processors will drop frequencies, is not yet clear, but it will be very interesting to look at. But something tells me it won't be any better than the new MacBook Air with its useless fan.
Second, if I'm not mistaken, this is the first Windows laptop to feature a pressure-sensitive touchpad. How this is implemented in software is also not yet known, but technologically it is worth noting.
There are also four speakers, a pair of microphones, a camera hidden in the keyboard, a fingerprint scanner and support for the Huawei Share function, which allows you to quickly pair a smartphone (of course, a Huawei or Honor smartphone) with a laptop to transfer data or mirror the smartphone screen to the laptop screen.
What about the prices? Depending on the configuration, the laptop will cost from $ 1155 to $ 1445 in China. So far, there is a very big question about the cooling efficiency and operating modes of the CPU, but in general, the laptop turned out, as for me, very interesting.
