Space Agency NASA has long been trying to teach the robot to help astronauts perform routine tasks on the International space station. Russia also wants to keep up with their foreign colleagues and in 2014 began the development of humanoid robots, FEDOR (Skybot F-850). First, the robot could not get inside the spacecraft “Soyuz MS-14”, but engineers research and production Association (NPO) “Android technology” was able to put it in a capsule and send to the ISS. The launch took place on 22 August, but the robot still did not get inside the station because the ship couldn’t dock. It seems that a series of failures of the robot FEDOR continue.
For docking of the spacecraft with the station used a system of rapprochement “Course”, which has operated since 1986, but is constantly improving. Apparently, to perfection, it is still far — ship “Soyuz MS-14” failed to identify correctly the signs on the surface of the station so docking had to be postponed. This time the ship with the robot FEDOR tries to make a docking with the service module “Zvezda”, which is another Russian segment of the space station. Over time, this task was taken and that’s good — now he can entertain a humanoid robot.
Representatives of “Roscosmos” hope “Soyuz MS-14” will remain docked to the ISS for 12 days. He then landed on the Ground with FEDOR robot.
