Didn't you wait? The Blackberry brand suddenly decided to remind of itself. More precisely, a Texas startup called OnwardMobility, which has promised to release a 5G Blackberry smartphone. The device will run Android and will have a physical keyboard.
The technical characteristics of the smartphone have not yet been disclosed. Most likely, it will be a mid-budget device. OnwardMobility said in an interview with The Register that the physical keyboard will feature an entirely new design that "reflects the brand's values."
It is possible that OnwardMobility will focus primarily on corporate customers, focusing on the ability to do work on the go and high level of security – the chips that have attracted so many Blackberry customers in the past.
The smartphone will be produced by FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of Foxconn. The new Blackberry will go on sale in Europe and North America "in the first half of 2021".
