Hello! Lately I often tell you about cheap smartphones and I am very happy. We already had the ASUS ZenFone Max M1 Pro and Huawei P Smart Plus. And today I’ll tell you about the smartphone that many have been waiting for – Xiaomi Mi A2. It costs only $ 280, and for the money you get the best camera phone in the segment. But something will have to be reconciled.
Video Review Xiaomi Mi A2
All these smartphones are low cost — in the same versions they are the same and good performance. But it’s pretty different and each has its own both advantages and disadvantages. A comparison of all three we will do very soon, and now about Xiaomi.
About Xiaomi Mi A2 said and still say many, it’s a smartphone not only with a bare Android, and the Android One, which means that updates will be coming at least two years since the announcement. But this is not the only and not its main advantage, because I praise it primarily for the camera. It’s not perfect and in smart phones you can find better, but not for the money.
Design and ergonomics
In a nutshell – the smartphone is very comfortable. It is made of metal, no squeaks and the Assembly can be called perfect. In contrast to the Mi A2 Lite, A2 not so much like on the iPhone. Yes, rear camera one to one, but no bangs, and this is important.
But otherwise the design is simple and no repeating. Feels he is closest to OnePlus 5T: of the same aluminum, too thin and almost the same rests in your palm. The arrangement of elements is exactly the same as in the competitors: right lock key and volume control, left tray for two SIM cards (the memory card insert), bottom connector Type-C, version 1.0, microphone and speaker, and the top is the IR port and a second microphone. Headphone Jack is no more. Of irritants – the camera sticks out more than the usual and if you use a smartphone without a case (silicone base is included), then on the table he like a swing.
6″ is today the norm, especially considering that it does not mean leptobrachella smartphone. After all, two years ago, when the standard aspect ratio of the displays were 16:9, 6″ could afford only a niche device. Today steel frames are minimal, and the ratio around 2:1. Therefore, the Mi A2 in the hand is quite comfortable.
The screen then IPS Full HD resolution+. Pixel density of 403 per inch. The picture is good, if nothing to compare – even very pleasant. But white as such is not here, at least in my instance. The colors give a red tint, and the comparison with competitors is particularly well seen. Best screen in this class so far, Huawei P-Smart Plus. But I will not say that the Mi A2’s problem, rather a feature. Using them is still nice.
A special thank you, there’s no bangs, she irks me) But this is my personal opinion.
And that’s what this smartphone needs to take camera. The fact that over 8000 UAH other more or less good camera no, this is different in a positive way.
In fact, we have Xiaomi Mi 8 photo and it’s very good! Mi 8 itself is not the best cameraphone among flagships, but for $ 280 competitor to think I couldn’t. The main camera consists of two sensors: IMX 486 12 MP and IMX 376 — 20 MP, aperture — f/1,75 each. The second is for higher-quality pictures in low light and for blurring the background when using portrait mode. But I would prefer it to be a telephoto with a 2X approximation.
Front camera is also good, it has the same sensor as the second camera – IMX 376, also 20 MP, but the aperture ratio of 2.2. For Shafikov this smartphone is much better than even the iPhone.
The video has stabilization, Full HD it even works well even in 4K the picture is not very jerky, there is something works, too. The quality of video in front of us a good middle class.
One of the most important advantages of this smartphone over other classmates, in addition to ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 is a naked Android. However, Xiaomi is still in a bit better situation, because Android One smartphone will get the updates faster — this year we should see here Android 9 Pie. About the naked Android, I think once again it makes no sense.

Iron all very good. Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 on 8 cores, Adreno graphics and 512, RAM 4 GB in 32 and 64 GB, there is also a version 6/128 and it costs 30 dollars more. I would advise you to look for it, although officially, as far as I know, we have it for sale. The interesting thing is that the iron cope with everything you can think of, even with the most demanding games at maximum graphics settings, but for unknown reasons, Snapdragon 636 in ASUS Zenfone Max Pro with the same graphics settings in games shows more FPS, and play it a bit more comfortable. Besides, he’s more Autonomous.
And this is the weakness of Xiaomi Mi A2, because the battery capacity is only 3010 mAh. The video of him on channel Checkedd will be released soon, but in our test on the autonomy of the Mi A2 is turned off on the last test, having to navigate the entire 18 minutes. Zenfone Max Pro after the entire test has retained a 50% charge. That is, the active users will have to carry a power Bank. How well would that have fast charging Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, but the standard power supply of the smartphone is still charging a very long time: over 30 minutes just to 36%, while a full charge will need to wait 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Pros Xiaomi Mi A2:
- Great body
- Naked Android
- Good camera
- Balanced iron
- USB Type-C
- IR port
- Included is a case, though a simple
The shortcomings of this smartphone is obvious:
- There is no memory card slot
- There is no NFC. And this is the European version, because for China, that is, Mi 6x, there could insert
- Small autonomy
- Quick charge Quick Charge 3.0 too slow
Of those little things that I had to face during testing – once the smartphone is completely dead, I recharged it, started to turn, and he hovered on the screen on. The hard reboot helped, believe it was an accident.
Overall, I can easily suggest Xiaomi Mi A2 to purchase your friends and those who need an inexpensive camera-phone, but it would not have bought it in the first place due to the lack of NFC. Also I do not understand why is not possible to insert the memory card and why remove 3.5 mm Jack, leaving him and a younger version of Mi A2 Lite.
