YouTube Music will replace Google Play Music

Google announced the imminent launch of a new music streaming service YouTube Music.

It will appear in the result of some disturbances among the existing services of the company. Now instead of YouTube Red will be two new services: YouTube Music and YouTube Premium.

YouTube Music will replace Google Play Music. Users will be able to use the service as free (with ads) and a paid subscription for $9.99 per month. The service needs to impose more serious competition for Spotify and the Apple Music. To do this, Google will release a “reimagined” mobile app and new desktop player.

YouTube Premium, except listen to music, watch videos without ads. Users will be able to play content in the background and download it for offline viewing. Subscription cost is $11.99 per month.

The developers note that YouTube Music will be a new personalized home screen that will dynamically adapt to the user. Playlists will be selected on the basis of history, time of day, location, and other criteria.

Users of Google Play Music have access to YouTube Music in its subscription. Subscribers YouTube Red also do not have to pay separately for the music, because YouTube Premium enabled.

Google plans to launch YouTube Music on may 22. Initially the service will be available in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea. Later, he will appear in other countries.
